Michael Myers is the founder and CEO of Myers Verde Company.  Mike is a national speaker recognized for his experience and knowledge of local sustainability programs. He has over 25 years experience in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable development and green building.  Mike served as the Senior Sustainability Manager for Lockheed Martin Corporation’s Energy and Environmental Services and supported the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.  At Lockheed Martin, Mike used his experience in green building and federal energy legislation to help develop the company’s Green Building Policy. As Project Director he supported the  Texas State Energy Office by providing technical assistance to local governments to identify and implement measures to save energy and reduce emissions.  He also served as a U.S. Department of Energy Program Manager for Affordable Housing, Existing Building Energy Research and Community Initiatives. In this role he supported local emerging green building efforts and worked closely with affordable housing providers including Habitat For Humanity to implement green building practices.

Mike was also the Manager of Energy Services for the City of Austin where he co-created and led the development of the nationally acclaimed Austin Green Building Program which received international honors at the United Nations Earth Summit in 1992. This was the first time that a city wrapped multiple programs, energy and environmental goals under one rating system.  He has worked for New York City and the City of San Antonio and recently served as the Technical Committee Chair for the City of San Antonio’s Sustainable Buildings Task Force. He has served as a Governor appointee on the Texas Weatherization Policy Advisory Council and chaired the Cedar Valley Community College’s curriculum committee to create a residential energy performance degree program.

Mike is a USGBC LEED BD+C Accredited Professional and an IFMA Sustainable Facility Professional. He is a member of the Texas Solar Energy Society, a board member of the  USGBC Central Texas- Balcones Chapter, serves on the Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s Energy Advisory Committee and is an Advisory Board Member for Cloudbeam, Inc.
